St. Estephe Cuvee Small Step

Like the first trip to the moon, one small step for man, a giant leap for mankind, this cuvee represents a “small step”  to a new style of a Bordeaux Saint-Estèphe wine. La Haye had the idea to enter the US market with a wine dedicated to Neil Armstrong.

Varietals: Latest innovation arrived from the 2011 vintage. Straight out the imagination of the owner. The wine is predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, in contrast to Château La Haye. Ready to be drunk and still allows aging.

Vintage: 2011

Region: Saint-Estèphe, Bordeaux region

Harvest Method:  Harvesting is by hand. As soon as the grapes are received, the grapes are sorted, de-stemmed, crushed and steeped according to the nature of the soil and the vine varieties.

Vinification:  Thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks with pumping over; malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks

Aging Process:   12 months in French oak barrels, fining with egg white

Aroma/Palate: Complex, fleshy nose of ripe fruits, spice, sweet peppers with a fine hint of vanilla.  Well structured palate, fruity and well balanced.

Serving Temp: 18°-20°C/64°-67°F
